The Memory Drawers, interactive piece, 58"x25"x15", 2020

This was the first attempt to revisit visually my memories of home, and my migration related memories. I started to transfer images of family members onto small wood drawers using image transfer techniques, attracted to the imperfect results it gave me that resonated so well with the imperfection of memories.
The Images on the drawers are of my family and of my early childhood, photographed in Poland and in Israel.
There are also flimsy origami paper houses made from my birth certificate, and the world map.
The word AMERICA was important to me, and connected to where my father was, after he left Israel when I was merely six.
On the top there are greeting cards I use to get on my birthdays.
The drawers contain objects that relate to the images.
The viewers are invited interactively to open the drawers.
